Inspired by one of MJ’s’90s rivals, the New York Knicks, the sneakers are draped in the Knicks’ signature color scheme.
This Air Jordan 3 features a White tumbled leather upper paired with Royal Blue and Orange contrasting accents throughout to give off aha NY Knicks vibes and Jumpman branding. Royal blue lining and lacestays tie in the franchise aesthetically, while classic grey elephant print, white midsoles, and grey rubber outsoles tie off the exterior.
Finishing touches include “04.08.88” listed behind the tongue to reference the “The Virus Game,” in which Michael Jordan played with a stomach virus and scored 47 points to lead the Chicago Bulls to victory against the Knicks.

Do Jordan 3s Break In?
The majority of Jordan 3s are built from leather. The quality varies by release; the uppers on some colorways are usually pliable but others can be stiff. Some 3s will utilize suede or nubuck. Softer leathers and suedes should require less break in time. Over time, the upper on most sneakers will conform to the wearer’s foot shape a bit, becoming a much better and more comfortable fit.
Are Air Jordan 3 Good For Basketball?
One could play basketball in an Air Jordan 3, however it is inadvisable when compared to more advanced modern basketball sneakers available. Today’s tech surpasses that of the 80s and 90s with respect to sports performance.
I would put the Air Jordan 3 strictly in the casual category. While one could theoretically hoop in some retro Js, this is nowhere near ideal. I find walking in the Air Jordan 3 is ok, as long as you don’t overdo it. A few miles at a time is fine though.
